Inspired by the powerful nature of
Nordic lands, where winters are truly raw and dark, HOGSTUL is
born as a solo project of the Norwegian keyboardist Kjetil
(PROFANE BURIAL, HAIMAD among others ...). And it is in the
inmensity of these landscapes with pagan stories the desolation
drowns reality and everything becomes dark. “A Nightmare at 40
Fathoms” is HOGSTUL's first single and in its more than 12:00
minutes, symphonies travel along winding road, full of nuances
and rhythm changes. We could say that the track is divided in 3
parts. Starting with a somewhat sinister piano melody, the
nightmare is released and will travel to the depths of
suffering. The orchestral passages are impressive, Kjetil show
here all his personal ideas, without limits, and if you heard
PROFANE BURIAL band or his collaboration in the Swedish black
metal band HAIMAD, you will know what I am talking about.
Arriving at 4:00 minutes the most nostalgic melodies will take
over the moment and in our minds majestic landscapes will be
drawn contemplating a cold sunset. Towards the end, chaos will once again take center
stage. "A Nightmare at 40 Fathoms" reveals what will come in the
near future, a full-length that will be immersed in an avantgarde horror and symphonic black metal. The song was mixed
and mastered by Göran Setitus (ex-Setherial).
