SPELL OF DARK
was born on a lonely winter night in December 2009. Inspired by
bands like BURZUM, BATHORY, ILDJARN, and after not getting
committed people to join the project, SPELL OF DARK became a one-man
band. After a long search and experimentation with the sounds,
V.T. resolves that he wanted to express his emotions, feelings,
and thoughts through atmospheric black metal.
In 2013 the first EP "Forever Winter" was released via Zombie
Records. This would be the prelude to the full-length debut
inspired by the rain entitled "Black Sorrow" released in 2014.
That same year the second full-length "Ashes Of Forgotten Dreams"
was also recorded, but its release would be in 2015. After a
couple of years of silence, the EP "Journey Into The Depths of
Winter" would arrive, which received positive reviews and was
reissued by several labels on CD format. In 2019 the third work
called "The Vastness" saw the light and its good acceptance
motivates V.T. to prepare the new EP "Summer Of Hopes" which
never was released because it became this full album entlited "Ghost
From the Past".
This
fourth full-length prioritizes a raw sound that rests on
melancholy and transports us to those cold forests where the
light of the full moon hits the immaculate white snow and the
power nature reveals its most imposing creations. Seven tracks
complete this work and about 50 minutes in length. It is
inevitable not to feel nostalgic and hopeless when listening to
it. An example of this is the first song "Dark Fire of Desert",
it captures us with its nostalgic atmosphere and also has its
moments of calm that connect a great feeling. It begins more
acoustically "Echo of Curse", one of the best songs on
the album, reminds us of bands like German depressive black
metal BLUTKLINGE with their "Call of the Blackened Woods". Towards the
end, the atmospheres will turn sinister with an old-school
essence. A great track.... The third act is "I will save you,
forest", it´s difficult to escape the emotions and memories
come to your mind when listening to the melodies. More
aggressive and chaotic is "Ghost From the Past", which
has several segments within its minimalist structure. The start
of "Age" is haunting and V.T.´s voice can hear
a little more, because in general, it is behind all the
instruments. "Summer of Hopes" is the longest
song and another
strong point of this work. At the end there is a cover by the
American electronic music composer MOBY entitled "Everling",
a version very well adapted to SPELL OF DARK style, a very
successful work. "Ghost from the past" was released last
February and is a work that will not disappoint to the
atmospheric black metal fans with depressing touches.

dark feeling that invites you to reflect...
