Like an
unstoppable serial killer and brutal as life itself, VACUOUS
DEPTHS come to us from the land of death metal, Tampa, Florida.
This trio spits out horror in their lyrics and also reflects it in
their music. The band was created in 2017 by Austin Thomas and
consolidates its project when Autro Palomo and Dustin Rogers
join the band.
They enter in The Hum Depot studio with engineer Dan Byers
in October 2021 to record their debut full-length "Corporal
Humiliation". With this one, VACUOUS DEPTHS shows the world what
it is capable of, its power and brutality with a deep
inspiration in the history of death metal from those lands.
“Gold Crosses” plunges us into madness, with an
omnipresent bass and beastly drums that are contagious with
their catchy and technical changes. Austin Thomas laughs like a
maniac and his vocal work is excellent. “Deep Night”
starts out more dense, it captivates us from the beginning with
its sinister atmosphere and emanates that essence of old glories
like MORBID ANGEL. A high point arrived at "Exteriorizaton",
a merciless song that refers to a serial killer. Without letting
us breathe, “Gaunts Reflexions” is shot, continuing with
this brutal reality.
“Worshipers
of death, Caliphate destiny, Worshipers of death, Scripture of
supremacy, Worshipers of death, Sadistic barbary, Worshipers of
death, A primitive belief” – is howled by the god of Death,
we are talking about “Worshipers of death” track,
excellent...!, the old school of the most classic death metal
lives here, even, sudamerican old death metal essence.
“Corporal Humiliation” vomits lyrics about the dark
reality that happens in Florida and its crushing riffs are
reminiscent bands like DEICIDE or DEATH, but it also has renewed
sounds.!!.
“Sodomized” start with a more visceral hatred, inhumane,
Dustin Rogers and Auturo Palomo work on the bases is
infernal, and the riffs that are born from Austin's guitar make
it impossible to stay calm. The trio is a ruthless machine, a
steamroller.
“Cycle Of Control” and “Carnival of Venon” are
added to the same level and at the end, “Troops Of Doom”
awaits us, the SEPULTURA's classic song, an excellent version.
“Corporal
Humiliation” is a great death metal release, with old school
essence that should never die. Initially released on cassette
via Blood Harvest, it was later also released on CD via Chaos
Records and another new release on tape via Goat Throne Records.
VACUOUS DEPTHS
is already to jump to the next level and surely, the world will
not be indifferent when this happens.
